Under 16s Essex football match ends with ‘acid’ attack
A teenager has been arrested after an under 16s football match turned ugly and resulted in two teenagers and a man being squirted in the face with a “noxious substance”.

The attacks happened in Virgina Gardens, Barkingside, just before 2pm on Sunday.

Three people ended up in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Essex FA has confirmed it received a “misconduct report” following an under 16s match between Shield Academy and Upminster Park Rovers, which was played at Starch House Lane Playing Fields.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called to Virgina Gardens, Ilford on Sunday at approximately 1.45pm to a report of two people who had been assaulted.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service (LAS) and established that the victims, two males aged 47 and 16 had a noxious substance thrown in their face.

“The assault took place as the victims were sitting in a car and occurred following a football match.”

Shield were 5-1 down, got to 5-5 and lost it 6-5 in the final kick of the match. Literally UPR's first points of the season so should have properly enjoyed the moment.

It had been a really good season though and all teams have been pretty equal in ability so we've had some cracking matches with no real incidents. Could not believe this when I heard it.

Carrying acid or knives should be jail time, no questions asked.

That's how some kids get when they are 5-1 up and lose 6-5.

Maybe a bit of piss taking going on that lead to a bit of afters? Nothing warrants an acid attack though.

Acid is easy though isn't it? No personal contact with the person that you are assaulting, don't even have to get within a couple of feet.

Re: Under 16s Essex football match ends with ‘acid’ attack
Both of these teams are in the same league as my sons team that I manage and after playing them both this season I would not have expected either of them would have been the type of kids to do something like this or kick off, the UPR kids were very polite and sporting.

Fucking disgusting though and I suppose if losing causes this kind of reaction this could easily have been me that copped this shit. The Echo league have acted quickly and stopped all of their remaining games this season but that is not the point, they must have been ready for this or they wouldn't have taken it to a youth football match so should be kicked out.

Acid seems to be the weapon of choice for scummy little hood rats as there was another acid attack in a school in Dagenham yesterday.
